Chester Arthur Franklin was the publisher
and editor of the Kansas City Call from 1919
to 1955. He published the first issue on May 6, 1919. He only focused his paper on serious topics concerning African Americans—race issues and politics.
H.L. Mencken was an American
journalist, essayist, magazine editor,
satirist, acerbic critic of American life and
culture, and a scholar of American
English. The American Mercury, founded
by Mencken in 1924, is a newspaper that
is still used today.
